Critical Care Providers Should Know

The state of Tennessee is ranked as the 39th healthiest state in the country by the United Health Foundation largely due to the severity of health issues and concerns that are affecting its citizens. Tennessee has a very large number of people who are diabetic, who are obese, who smoke, and who have high blood pressure. Even with all of those health concerns, there is one health issue in which the state of Tennessee is performing extremely well; there are a very low number of people who have high cholesterol. The state of Tennessee has a program called "Get Fit TN" which is designed to help people with Type 2 diabetes live a healthier lifestyle. Get Fit TN educates the general public on Type 2 diabetes including how people get diabetes and how they can prevent themselves from getting it as well. Get Fit TN also promotes an active lifestyle and healthy eating, which can help people with Type 2 diabetes curb some of the side effects of the disease.

In January of 2012, the state of Tennessee started to require all of its pain management centers to be registered with the Tennessee Department of Health. This is so the state can help regulate the type of care that patients receive when they visit a private clinic. This measure also gives the patient some recourse if they are met with an unethical or unsafe doctor.
