There is a long history that led up to the official declaration of Long Beach as a city in California, but today it stands as one of the most important cities in the nation. Not only is it one of the busiest seaports for entry into the country, but it maintains a thriving portal for the oil industry as well. That makes this city much more than a beach hot spot, as much of the state is usually known for.
Since it sits directly on the Pacific Ocean, this city has lots of prime beach area for visitors to enjoy. Yet, the temperatures in this area of the state tend to be milder than in other areas, so it is not one of the sunniest beaches year round. The shoreline does offer relaxing cruises and other relaxing water activities year round.
In fact, most of the enjoyment for visitors to this area involves cruises of some sort. From the short trip cruises operating right off the shore to some of the best known cruise lines in the country, there are a wide variety of options for cruises in the area as well as from Long Beach into other areas of California.
Also, the Disneyland resort is rather close to the city, making it an excellent adventure for families or anyone who is up for a tons of theme park fun.
