About Honolulu

Honolulu is the capital of Hawaii and has been combined into one entity with the surrounding Honolulu County. As a whole, this city represents the entire island of Oahu. While most people think of this city as a paradise where luxuries abound, it is a larger urban area with an active economic life beyond the immaculate beaches.

Most of the attractions in the city do center on the beaches and main waterway, as well as the surrounding nightlife. Travelers come to Hawaii in general to lie on the best beaches in the country in total serenity. They can also go snorkeling, diving, or surfing on the beaches. There are many services available to give lessons to anyone wanting to learn these things.

The nightlife is also rich with live entertainment and many local events designed to entertain travelers and locals alike.

Yet, there are some historical sites on the island that are often visited by travelers as well. For instance, many people enjoy a walking tour of Pearl Harbor, which is where the island was attacked by the Japanese in 1941.

Diamond Head is also a site worth seeing. It is a huge crater which visitors can see by flying above the location. It is usually seen from the airplane while visitors head into the Honolulu airport.
