Denver was founded in 1858 and officially incorporated into the state of Colorado just a few years later in 1861. It sits near the Rocky Mountains and is the capital of the state. The city is well known for its cold climate and huge amounts of snowfall throughout much of the year. Its summer season is rather short compared to most other regions in the country.
Due to this climate, Colorado is a premier destination for skiers and other travelers who enjoy winter sports. The city has many resorts decked with slopes, just waiting to accommodate the beginner as well professional level skiers, snowboarders, and other snow lovers in general.
Yet, there is a lot more to this state than the wintery snow. During the brief warmer season there are beautiful mountains to explore either on foot or mountain bike. There are also a variety of sand dunes and hot springs sprinkled throughout state parks that are quite breathtaking and relaxing.
There are also some very luxurious spas and resorts located here, offering a lot of pampering and sheer relaxation year round. Whether you go while the snow is thick and enjoy a massage and facial after a long day of skiing the slopes or go exclusively to be pampered around the clock, some of the resorts in the city are the best to be found anywhere.
